Goodwill Donation Refresher: Your Frequently Asked Questions Answered!
When it’s time to donate your gently-used clothing, shoes, accessories, books, and other household items, Goodwill makes it easy. But did you know that when you donate to Goodwill, you’re doing much more than simply clearing out clutter?
Every Ohio Valley Goodwill donation helps create opportunities for individuals with disabilities and veterans to empower themselves through work and learning. By donating to Goodwill, you’re propelling our mission forward and changing the lives of hundreds in your community each year.
If it’s been a while since your last donation drop-off, here’s a quick refresher!
Where Can I Donate to Goodwill in Cincinnati?
Ohio Valley Goodwill has donation sites located across the Greater Cincinnati region, as well as Indiana and Northern Kentucky. If you have clothing and smaller household goods, drop off donations at your nearest Goodwill retail store.
If you have larger items, or if transporting your donations is difficult, schedule a fee-based pick-service by our local hauling partners: ReSupply or College Hunks Hauling Junk.
ReSupply is a veteran owned and operated company providing home donation pickup service for the convenience of local donors. Donors pay a small fee and can book pickups via our Donate page (look for the button in the lower right corner) or by calling (513) 771-4800. College Hunks Hauling Junk is also a fee-based service that will remove items from anywhere inside your home to deliver to Goodwill, as well as any “junk” and items that Goodwill cannot accept.
What Can I Donate to Cincinnati Goodwill?
Ohio Valley Goodwill gladly accepts most donations of clothes and household items. We appreciate your items arriving in gently-used condition without rips, tears, holes, and stains. Any items we do receive that are not in a condition to resell in our retail stores will be responsibly recycled.
There are also some donations we regretfully cannot accept due to size and safety issues, such as large furniture, large appliances, and tube-style TVs. Check out this list for more information!
What Happens to My Goodwill Donations?
When Goodwill receives your donations, we examine them and prep them for sale in our network of retail stores. The proceeds generated from the sale of these donated items help support Goodwill’s mission to change lives through the power of work.
If any items cannot be sold in our stores, we work with our recycled partners to ensure they are recycled responsibly.
How Do My Donations Support the Goodwill Mission?
We’re glad you asked! Your donations are vital to Goodwill’s mission. When someone buys your donated item from Goodwill, their purchase helps fund our life-changing job training programs and employment services for individuals with disabilities and our nation’s veterans. The individuals we serve gain more than employment; they gain self-confidence, independence, and personal fulfillment!
