Three tips to save on Back to School

It’s almost time to shop for Back to School! Hundreds of thousands of kids in Cincinnati will be heading to school after a year at home, hybrid or regular schooling. If you’re feeling overwhelmed with everything you need to buy and organize, don’t panic just yet. Here’s a few helpful tips, especially for parents of elementary school students.

  1. Inventory the supplies your student already has or is in good shape from last school year. Don’t run out and spend lots on new folders and scissors when last year’s are still in good shape! You may discover supplies that are still useable. Kids might want brand new items, but using the old ones help instill a ” reuse, reduce and recycle” attitude while they are young.
  2. Have your child try on clothing from last year. They may not have grown quite as much as you think! Especially since the beginning of the school year is still warm, you may be able to get some life out of your summer clothing. Short sleeved shirts can sometimes last a few years on older kids. And be sure to donate what doesn’t fit anymore to Ohio Valley Goodwill!
  1. Shop for new school clothing at Ohio Valley Goodwill. The best way to save money for the school year is to get your fall school clothing at Ohio Valley Goodwill! Consider buying a slightly larger size in items such as sweaters or jackets so the clothing lasts a few seasons. Also, since kids are growing all the time, you can often find donated clothing that is practically new! We have a huge selection of the trends that elementary schoolers love, like athletic gear, fun sweaters and graphic tees. Check it out- you’ll be surprised at what you’ll find!

Good luck to all the parents navigating the new school year! We wish you a stress free, budget friendly start!
