Team Goodwill is busy prepping for this summer’s Virtual PigAbilities event which will take place on Tuesday, June 22nd at Glenwood Gardens. Eighteen athletes and coaches will be part of the 2021 team and will complete the one mile track before returning to the organization’s corporate headquarters for the medal ceremony following the event. This year’s PigAbilities athletes include participants in the organization’s Center for Advocacy, Recreation and Education (CARE) program as well as its Pre-Vocational Training program. PigAbilities is an empowering option for athletes of all ages and abilities who want to commit to going the distance by making healthy choices in their lives. During a typical year (pre-COVID), the PigAbilities event would take place when there are fewer crowds, increased accessibility and more parking. This year, like last year, Pig Works is offering Virtual options for the summer with a planned in-person event taking place the week of October 29th-31st in downtown Cincinnati. The Fall event will feature in-person races for the Queen Bee and Flying Pig events as well as the traditional vendor Expo at the Duke Energy Center but will not include an in-person event for PigAbilities (due to on-going safety concerns). Goodwill looks forward to next year and the ability to sponsor and host an in-person PigAbilities event which has become an organizational and community tradition.
As the Title Sponsor for the PigAbilities event, Ohio Valley Goodwill looks forward to its own Virtual event on June 22nd with the support of the Pig Works team who will be on hand for the ever-popular and much looked forward to Medal Ceremony. Each athlete will receive a PigAbilities medal to commemorate their achievement.
