The morning of Tuesday, November 12th kicked off with a Volunteer Orientation for more than 20 members of “Team Goodwill” who will be acting as cheerleaders during this year’s Thanksgiving Day Race. This is the 4th year in a row that Ohio Valley Goodwill has partnered with the Race in sponsoring two Donation Stations both at the start and at Mile 2. The members of this year’s “Team Goodwill” will be giving their time to cheer on the Race participants on the morning of the holiday as well as coordinating one of the largest Donation Drives in the country in support of the organization’s mission of service to the community. Promoting the theme of the recently launched national Ad Council campaign, “Donate Stuff. Create Jobs,” in support of Goodwill, the team members will be sharing their musical talents, their vocal cheerleading abilities as well as their best donation gathering skills on the morning of November 28th. “We couldn’t be more pleased with the enthusiasm and positive energy of this year’s volunteers,” said Sharon Hannon, Goodwill Marketing Specialist and Volunteer Coordinator. The 10K race is celebrating its 104th year and boasts prominence as a Thanksgiving tradition for many families in the Greater Cincinnati community. Goodwill cheer leaders will happily be providing encouragement and support to the passing runners as they complete the challenging course through downtown Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. Last year’s Race resulted in more than 4000 lbs. of donated coats, jackets, sweatshirts and scarves all of which are then sold in Goodwill’s network of retail stores with the resulting proceeds going towards the organization’s mission of putting people with disabilities and our nation’s veterans to work. If you haven’t already registered for this year’s Race, go to www.thanksgivingdayrace.com and plan to join Goodwill and thousands of other Greater Cincinnatians on Thanksgiving morning at Paul Brown Stadium. Please don’t forget to bring your generous donation for Goodwill to drop off at our Donation Stations at the start and at Mile 2. We’ll be cheering you on in our legendary Goodwill giving spirit! Thanks Greater Cincinnati for your support of Goodwill’s mission of putting people to work!
