Ohio Valley Goodwill Welcomes State Representative Adam Mathews and OAGI Executive Director, Prince Garuba for Visit

Ohio Valley Goodwill was pleased to welcome State Representative Adam Mathews along with OAGI Executive Director, Prince Garuba, to the organization’s corporate headquarters on Friday, March 31st for a tour and discussion related to the organization’s 107 year old mission of service. The visit was a follow-up to the in person meeting with the Representative which had taken place in Columbus during the recent Ohio Association of Goodwill Industries (OAGI) Statehouse Day. Representative Mathews serves the constituents of the 56th District which encompasses Warren County.

The Representative and OAGI Executive Director were provided with an extensive tour of Goodwill’s programs and services for individuals with disabilities, our nation’s veterans and others experiencing challenges to employment. The Representative was impressed by the Center for Advocacy, Recreation and Education (CARE) program which is designed to provide enrichment opportunities for individuals with Developmental Disabilities served in partnership with County Boards of DD as well as the organization’s comprehensive Employment Services including Summer Youth opportunities. Additionally, as a former engineer affiliated with the Navy, the Representative was particularly interested in the organization’s Veteran Services programs.

Following the tour, the Representative and OAGI Executive Director met with the Ohio Valley Goodwill team led by President and CEO, Mark Hiemstra to discuss significant legislation currently under consideration in the Ohio House.

Ohio Valley Goodwill is grateful to State Representative Mathews and OAGI Executive Director, Prince Garuba for making the time to visit Ohio Valley Goodwill and learn more about the organization’s critical services for people with disabilities and our nation’s veterans. Goodwill looks forward to working collaboratively with Representative Mathews in the future on initiatives to benefit the citizens of Warren County.
