Ohio Valley Goodwill Thanks its Direct Support Professional Team!

Thank you to our Direct Support Professionals!
For more than a century, Ohio Valley Goodwill’s mission of service has been about helping people with disabilities and our nation’s veterans to thrive and succeed in our community. It is only through the dedication, hard work and commitment of our Direct Support Professional Team (DSP), that this mission of service is possible. While their role is always critical to the Goodwill mission, the past several years have been particularly challenging in our efforts to support the individuals we serve.   During DSP Appreciation Week 2022, we want to make a special effort to say THANK YOU to all of our Direct Support Professionals in every department for their outstanding contributions to the Goodwill mission and the individuals we mutually support. Our mission is only possible because of you!

The role of our DSP’s are varied depending on the program or service they are affiliated with:

-In our CARE program, DSP’s work to support individuals in exploring the larger community and building connections;
-In our Pre-Vocational programs, DSP’s help to introduce people to the world of work and the expectations of the workplace;
-In our Employment Services program, individuals are supported in finding jobs and exploring career directions as well as receiving critical Job Coaching support;
-In our Veterans services programs, individuals are supported in attaining self-sufficiency through housing and employment;
-In our Assessment programs, individuals are helped in determining their skills, interests and abilities and future goals.

All of these programs and services are the core of the Goodwill mission and it is our Direct Support Professionals who provide services to almost 3000 people annually and last year, assisted almost 1000 to get jobs in the community, that make that mission possible.   During the celebration of National Direct Professional Week, September 11th-17th, we salute your service and thank you for your commitment to Ohio Valley Goodwill not only for National Direct Professional Week but every day.
