Ohio Valley Goodwill, Joe Walter and STAR64 Kick-Off High School Football Donation Challenge!

wstr_colorSaturday, September 17th marks the official kick-off of the 2016 STAR64 Saturday High School Rivals. Goodwill celebrity spokesman and former Bengal, Joe Walter, will be there as well to launch this year’s Goodwill High School Donation Challenge which encourages local high schools to compete with each other to collect the most donations in support of Ohio Valley Goodwill and its 100 year old mission of putting people with disabilities and our nation’s veterans to work in our community.

Throughout the Fall football season, a Goodwill donation trailer will be delivered to the competing schools chosen for the game of the week. During the weekly televised football game, a Goodwill representative will disclose which school collected the most donations. The winning school will receive an ice cream social sponsored by Cold Stone Creamery and Sweet Frog Premium Frozen Yogurt.
All of the middle and junior high schools will join to help support the high school by collecting donations and teaching our youth to give back to their community.

Goodwill celebrity spokesperson, Joe Walter has filmed a television spot explaining the 2016 Goodwill High School Donation Challenge.

The spot will be shown at every school the week before the challenge starts. During the televised weekly football game, Goodwill will be featured to talk about the organization’s mission in the Greater Cincinnati community.
Before each featured game of the week, each high school will submit the name of their best athlete and one student will be named ” Goodwill Scholar Athlete of the Week.” The selected athlete is then presented with a plaque at that week’s featured game at a local high school. The plaque presentations to the ” Goodwill Scholar Athlete of the Week” will be taped and aired.

The most exciting part is that at the end of the season all players of the week will be reviewed and one very deserving student will be selected as the ” Goodwill Scholar Athlete of the Year” and will receive a $5,000.00 college scholarship! The college scholarship is to the school of their choice.
Goodwill celebrity spokesperson Joe Walter will attend most of the games and will be available as possible to present the awards.
