Ohio Valley Goodwill CFO Honored at Business Courier C-Suite Awards
Ohio Valley Goodwill’s Leadership Team was pleased to attend the 2022 Cincinnati Business Courier’s C-Suite Awards event on Thursday, August 18th. Held at the beautiful Renaissance Hotel in downtown Cincinnati the prestigious Awards are designed to honor top executives whose leadership and skills have helped shape their companies. Mike Speed was selected as a winner in the “CFO of the Year” Nonprofit category and the Goodwill team was excited to support him at the C-Suite awards event. Mark Hiemstra, Chief Operating Office, accepted the award on his behalf at the event. As Chief Financial Officer, Mike Speed has the responsibility of managing and directing the complicated financial affairs of the $43M a year organization and its related business lines- which include 19 retail stores, 31 donation centers, an Auto Auction and most importantly, mission services for individuals with disabilities and our nation’s veterans.
Chief Financial Officer Mike Speed has been with Ohio Valley Goodwill for almost 20 years, serving as the Accounting Manager under previous CFO and past C-Suite Award recipient, Doug Ostholthoff, and now as the CFO for the past two years. Under his guidance and expertise, Speed has helped the organization to withstand the challenges of mandated closures during COVID as well as the complicated re-opening process of various business lines over the past two years. His careful stewardship of the organization’s financial health and prudent investments have assisted Ohio Valley Goodwill in maintaining its impressive economic impact in the Greater Cincinnati community of more than $63,500,000 a year. The organization provides employment and training services to almost 3000 people annually and last year, helped 920 to get jobs in the Greater Cincinnati community. Additionally, Ohio Valley Goodwill is the largest employer in the Village of Woodlawn with more than 700 people on its employee team.
