Goodwill Thanks Cincinnati Donors for a Century of Support and Shares Concerns about New Curbside Recycling Service

Full Color New Goodwill Logo

Simple Recycling will soon begin providing curbside pick-ups of household items and clothing for Cincinnati neighborhoods. As the original recycler of donated items in Cincinnati with over 100 years of service to our community, Ohio Valley Goodwill is very concerned about this new curbside donation program. Simple Recycling is a for-profit company which sells your items to Ohio thrift and resale stores, and then national, and international buyers. This means that the generous donations which Cincinnati donors have been giving to support non-profit agencies in our community which in turn help our local citizens with disabilities, our nation’s veterans as well as others with support needs will be diverted to attain the financial goals of a for-profit corporation. Because Simple Recycling is a for-profit company, when you leave items for curbside pick-up, they are NOT a tax-deductible donation and therefore, you will no longer be able to get a tax receipt for your donations.

Human service organizations in the Cincinnati area have long been grateful for the support that our generous donors provide which allow all of us to serve thousands of people in our local community. Goodwill, for example, sells goods donations in our retail stores to fund training and employment services for people with disabilities and our nation’s veterans in the Greater Cincinnati area. This year, Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries is projected to serve more than 3,500 people and place local Cincinnatians into more than 1,000 jobs. In conjunction with other non-profit organizations in the Cincinnati area, your donations help all of us to serve thousands of local residents to enable them to get jobs, training and vital needed services.
