ROOK-site-logo1The Most Unique Shopping & Dining Destination in Cincinnati

Visit the first choice for Cincinnati shopping, Rookwood Commons & Pavilion. Whether shopping in Cincinnati all day, or just to find that one special item, Rookwood delivers the ultimate shopping experience. As the most notable of Cincinnati shopping malls, this luxurious shopping mall features over 70 fine stores and restaurants, all within a romantic, open-air setting. Coming up on May 15th-May 17th, Rookwood will also be the host location for the  ” Spring Clean Out for Goodwill,” event which will offer donors the chance to de-clutter and recycle responsibly this Spring!

At the Rookwood Pavilion shopping center in Norwood, one can sip gourmet coffee, browse through a best-seller, consume a meal, get a haircut or purchase clothes and shoes. However, from 1917 to 1989, one of the premier tool companies in the world, the R.K. LeBlond Machine Tool Co., occupied the site. The company now operates as Makino Machine Tool Co. in Mason.

The name of the Rookwood shopping mall was inspired by the world-famous Rookwood Pottery which traces its roots to Cincinnati. Maria Longworth Nichols Storer, daughter of wealthy Joseph Longworth, founded Rookwood Pottery in 1880. Mrs. Storer named it Rookwood, after her father’s country estate near the city in Walnut Hills.[2] Through years of experimentation with glazes and kiln temperatures, Rookwood pottery became a popular American art pottery, designed to be at least as decorative as it is useful.  Today, Rookwood Pottery is owned by Martin and Marilyn Wade and operates from a production studio in the historic Over-the-Rhine neighborhood of Cincinnati.[6]

So, it’s no surprise that Ohio Valley Goodwill is thrilled to have Rookwood as the host location for its’ ” Spring Clean-Out for Goodwill ” event at Rookwood Commons coming up May 15th- May 17th! The  Spring Clean-Out for Goodwill event  will offer a 3 day opportunity for donors to de-clutter their homes and bring their unwanted stuff to the Goodwill Donation Trailer which will be centrally located in the Rookwood parking lot.

Donors will also have the opportunity to meet local radio personalities 55KRC Brian Thomas, KISS DJ D-Lo, and WLW personality Scott Sloan who will be on-hand to lend their support. The ” Spring Clean Out for Goodwill” event will be held 9am-9pm on Friday, May 15th and Saturday, May 16th  and on Sunday, May 17th from 9am-6pm.
