Goodwill New Bees
Nicole Gill, Cassandra Schade and Brooklynne Profitt

This year’s Queen Bee Half Marathon held the weekend of October 6th and 7th in downtown Cincinnati not only marked the 4th annual Royal sponsorship by Ohio Valley Goodwill of the momentous celebration of women but also, the debut of the “New Bees” as part of this year’s event. The first time Queen Bee participants included Cassandra Schade and Brooklynne Profitt along with Coach, Nicole Gill.

As a Royal Sponsor of the Queen Bee Half Marathon event, Ohio Valley Goodwill is pleased to support this unique celebration which honors women and promotes the power of community. The “New Bees” are part of Ohio Valley Goodwill’s Community Access program which helps individuals to be fully included in the community in activities of their choice. The “New Bees” chose to participate in the 2017 Queen Bee for the first time this year and enjoyed the experience.

“I felt really good about finishing all four miles,” said Brooklynne. “Everyone was very nice at the race.” Cassandra indicated that her favorite part of the day was “running across the finish line!” Both women enjoyed the perks of being part of the Queen Bee- receiving sunflowers at the end of the race and a crown to commemorate their experience. “We all had a great time,” said Nicole Gill, Goodwill Coach.

For more than a century, Goodwill has been a vital member of the Greater Cincinnati community helping more than 3500 people with disabilities and our nation’s veterans annually to achieve personal success. “Goodwill could not be more proud of the “New Bees” team members and their personal achievement in finishing the four mile race” said Sharon Hannon, Marketing Manager and Event Coordinator.
