Goodwill Joins Clermont DD in Speaking Event in Support of 2016 Levy!

masthead Ohio Valley Goodwill Marketing Manager, Sharon Hannon, was pleased to join Clermont County DD staff team member, Jay Williams in a community outreach presentation in support of the 2016 levy. Speaking to a group of approximately members of the Clermont County Democratic Party, Williams and Hannon provided an overview of the critical importance of this year’s levy campaign on the ballot on March 15th. It will replace the effective rates of a .4 mill levy passed in 1979 and a 1 mill levy passed in 1980.

As a representative for the Clermont County Board of Developmental Disabilities, Williams explained that the number of individuals requesting intake has steadily increased since 2009. She also explained the various issues that the Board is facing in regards to aging caregivers, need for emergency services and increase in incidence of developmental disabilities. She also informed the assembled listeners that the estimated additional costs would be about $35.00 a year or about $3.00 per month.

As a partner with the Clermont County Board of DD in providing services for people with developmental disabilities in Clermont County, Sharon Hannon, Marketing Manager, shared with the group Goodwill’s 100th anniversary of service this year, overall impact on the Greater Cincinnati community and specific services provided to the citizens of Clermont County. The organization provides an array of work, training and enrichment services through its Eastside Center as well as community-based work settings and focuses on helping individuals to obtain employment.

The assembled guests seemed to understand the loss of revenue from both State and Federal sources; over $1.8 million dollars; which makes this year’s levy even more critical. Williams and Hannon closed with a request that the Clermont County Democratic Party members help to share the levy message, assist with sending postcards and distribute yard signs to interested supporters moving forward.
