Goodwill Contributes to Environmental Preservation Efforts Through As-Is Auctions!

For more than a century, Ohio Valley Goodwill has been in the business of renewing and re-using items generously donated by the Greater Cincinnati community in support of its mission of service- helping people with disabilities and our nation’s veterans to go to work. As part of this long-standing tradition of environmental stewardship, Goodwill helps to recycle more than 54,000,000 lbs. of donated product every year diverting it from area landfills. One of the key ways in which this happens is through the organization’s twice weekly ” As Is” Auction.

As most Greater Cincinnatians know, Goodwill operates a network of 18 retail stores throughout the Tri-State area and the proceeds from the store sales provides 60% of the organization’s operating revenue for its programs and services. More than 3400 people annually receive employment services as well as life enrichment opportunities through Ohio Valley Goodwill. One of the ways Goodwill has created to ensure the best possible re-use and renewal of donations is the organization’s ” As-Is” Auction. Held every Tuesday and Friday mornings at 8 am at Goodwill’s corporate headquarters at 10600 Springfield Pike, the ” As- Is” Auction is designed to provide the opportunity for flea market vendors and other interested customers to purchase items in bulk which have not been sold in the organization’s network of retail stores. Hosted by a professional Auctioneer, the ” As-Is” Auction has established a devoted fan base which comes to check out the weekly offerings. Everything from shoes to housewares and jewelry is sold at the auction and can offer an assortment of quality items for the discerning bidder.
