Get Out and Give Back on Giving Tuesday!

Thanksgiving has come and passed, and Giving Tuesday (December 3rd this year) is here to kick off the official season of giving!

Giving Tuesday was created back in 2012 as a ” global generosity movement” to change how people take part in the giving season. Just like Black Friday and Cyber Monday have become synonymous with holiday shopping, Giving Tuesday is a national day of giving. There are so many amazing opportunities to get out and give back, whether you donate funds, volunteer your time, or raise your voice for a special cause.

If you’re looking for ways to participate in Giving Tuesday this year, we have some ideas for you! Here’s how you can support Ohio Valley Goodwill this Giving Tuesday with your time, talent, and resources:

Donate

Donating your gently-loved clothing and household goods is one of the easiest and best ways to give back this Giving Tuesday. Donations to Goodwill can be made at 30 locations in the Greater Cincinnati area on Giving Tuesday and every day of the year. We gladly accept donations of furniture, home décor, books, clothing and accessories, and even cars!

When you donate to Goodwill, your items will be resold in our retail stores. Then, the revenue raised supports life-changing programs and services for those facing challenges to employment, such as people with disabilities and our nation’s veterans. Shop

Another simple way to support your community this Giving Tuesday is by shopping at your local Ohio Valley Goodwill store. Ohio Valley Goodwill’s stores are always stocked with unique and brand-name items at discount prices, plus thrift shopping at Goodwill is a fun experience for the whole family! Every time you shop at Goodwill, you Bring Good Home, including the good feeling of knowing that the dollars you spend are helping to provide job training and employment opportunities to people in your community.

Volunteer

If you want to give your time to help others this Giving Tuesday or throughout the year, there are many volunteer opportunities at Ohio Valley Goodwill. We welcome high school student volunteers seeking to fulfill civics, government, or scholarship needs. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age.

We’re also proud to offer opportunities through our Service Guild. These are Ohio Valley Goodwill’s most ardent volunteers. The Guild organizes fundraisers and events, volunteers, and acts as ambassadors of Goodwill to the Greater Cincinnati community. They have been spreading Goodwill’s message for over 80 years!
