Donate to Goodwill and Create a Cycle of Success

Did you know that the simple act of cleaning out your closet can make a difference in your community? Here’s how Goodwill’s donation-resale model works to create a cycle of success.

Donate: Collect gently items and donate to Goodwill

Do you have clothes that no longer fit you, books you no longer read, or toys that your children have outgrown? Donate them to Goodwill! When you donate to Goodwill at one of our stores or Attended Donation Centers, you will receive a receipt for your tax-deductible contribution. We make it easy to donate in Cincinnati! Check out our complete list of donations sites or click here to learn more about our other donation options.

Retail Stores: Goodwill sells the donated items in our stores

Goodwill’s donation-resale model helps extend the life of clothing and other goods. We carefully process all donated clothing, accessories, household goods, books, and toys, and then resell them in our stores at some of the best prices in town! Our conveniently located retail stores are restocked daily with fresh merchandise, helping you find quality items at affordable prices, whether you’re shopping on a budget or looking for unique, fashionable finds.

Outlet store: Remaining merchandise is sold by the pound

Any merchandise not sold in one of our stores or boutiques after a while is transported to our outlet store, where items are sold by the pound to provide shoppers with outstanding deals on clothing, glassware, toys, housewares, purses and accessories, shoes, and more! Our outlet stores give shoppers opportunities to find clothing and household goods at some of the best prices around and prevent reusable items from clogging local landfills.

Recycle: Items not purchased in stores are recycled to minimize excess waste

Each year, Goodwill recycles millions of pounds of donated materials to prevent excess waste. Goodwill works with recycling organizations to help divert recyclable items including clothing/textiles, plastic, and electronics from filling our area’s landfills. So, when you donate your gently used items to Ohio Valley Goodwill instead of throwing them away, you’re helping us fulfill our mission of being socially and environmentally responsible!

Job training: Revenue from Goodwill’s stores helps create jobs!

Etap Shata, Successful Community Employee

Since 1916, Ohio Valley Goodwill has been helping individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment to receive skill training and obtain jobs in the Greater Cincinnati area. Revenue from Goodwill’s stores helps to fund these life-changing programs and services, empowering people to achieve independence and find fulfilling careers in the fields of their interest.

Community: By empowering people to train for and find meaningful employment, the entire community benefits!

Every time you donate your gently used items to Goodwill or shop in one of your stores, Goodwill’s cycle of success continues! Because of your generous actions, Ohio Valley Goodwill can continue providing job training and support services that benefit the entire community. We appreciate your past donations and ask for your support in the future!
