The evening of April 6th marked the occasion of the Butler County Board of Developmental Disabilities (BCBDD) 20th annual Community Recognition Dinner. The yearly affair offers the Butler County Board   of DD a chance to highlight the dedicated individuals and organizations in Butler County, which work tirelessly to provide  outstanding programs and services  for individuals with developmental disabilities as well as community support. The dinner, which had to be rescheduled last month due to weather, was held at the Savannah Center in West Chester. This year’s Master of Ceremonies was John Lomax from Channel 12 who has been part of the event since its beginnings.

More than 400 guests enjoyed the inspiring program which highlighted the achievements of numerous individuals served by the Board. Keynote speaker, Josh Strom, in particular shared a very heart-warming story about his own achievements both in terms of overcoming some of his own challenges as well as his success in obtaining community employment. As always, Ohio Valley Goodwill was pleased to be a sponsor for the 20th anniversary Community Recognition Dinner event.

The program for the evening included recognition in a variety of categories and Ohio Valley Goodwill was delighted to have its own team members, Michael Johnson and Aimee Rittner, singled out for their contributions to individuals served by the Board through its employment and job coaching services. One of the highlights of this year’s event was the presentation of the Star award at the end of the evening presented by Superintendent Lisa Guliano. This year’s surprise recipient was Scott Osterfeld, who works in partnership with Goodwill as well as many other community organizations. “Ohio Valley Goodwill enjoys its long-time collaborative partnership with the Butler County Board of DD and is pleased to be able to offer services to more than 200 Butler County residents through its many programs including employment and job coaching,” said Sharon Hannon, Marketing Specialist. In addition to recognizing the efforts of hard-working volunteers and organizations, the dinner was an opportunity for the Butler County Board of DD  to unveil their new public service announcement campaign for 2014. Check out the video below.
