Ohio Valley Goodwill Welcomes State Representative Carruthers for Tour

Ohio Valley Goodwill was pleased to welcome State Representative Sara Carruthers, 51st House District, to its corporate headquarters on Friday, April 1st. The Representative was there to learn more about the organization’s 106 year mission of helping people with disabilities and our nation’s veterans to thrive through employment. Goodwill’s team provided a comprehensive tour and overview of its Center for Advocacy, Recreation and Education (CARE) program; Employment Services and Training; Veterans Services; Pre-Vocational services as well as its Contributed Goods facility. The Representative had a chance to learn about the specific programs from the organization’s Management team as well as its overall business operations which help to fund the critical services.

Representative Carruthers represents the 51st district which includes parts of Butler County including the cities of Hamilton and Fairfield. Ohio Valley Goodwill has operated a satellite Vocational Training Center in the Fairfield area for many years through its partnership with Butler DD as well as recently having opened a retail store in Hamilton. As a member of the Human Services committee in the House, the Representative was interested to learn more about Goodwill’s overall social enterprise and specific operations in Butler County.

Ohio Valley Goodwill is grateful to Representative Carruthers for making time in her busy schedule to visit Ohio Valley Goodwill and learning more about its important mission of service to the community. It seemed particularly appropriate that the Representative scheduled her visit on the occasion of the beginning of National Autism Awareness Month. The Goodwill team shared information about the individuals they serve through their programs with Autism as well as other disabilities. Goodwill looks forward to working collaboratively in the future with Representative Carruthers on ways to support individuals with disabilities as well as our nation’s veterans.
