5 Tips to Get Your Home Ready for Fall

Sweater weather, pumpkin patches, apple picking, playing in the leaves “” there are so many reasons to look forward to autumn!

Before fall officially arrives, it’s a good idea to prepare your home for the changing season. Here are some tips to help you get your home fall-ready:

Reorganize the pantry

Take some time to give your pantry an overhaul and get it organized for the busy fall season. Start by taking inventory of everything in your pantry. (Be sure to check the labels “” anything that’s expired should go in the trash!)

Then, group items into similar categories like cereal, nuts, bagged snacks, canned goods, baking supplies, and spices. You can use large fabric boxes or baskets to store bulk items like paper towels or water bottles. Smaller bins or glass jars can hold smaller items like pasta, cereal, rice, or baking supplies. Labeling your storage containers is also a smart idea. You could use a label maker or recycle gift tags to make everything look cohesive and well-organized!

Create a morning ” grab-and-go station”

Simplify your family’s morning routine by setting up a special spot with portable snacks like fruit, granola bars, crackers, and juice boxes. Use small baskets or bins to display all the snacks and keep them within arm’s reach for kids. Having a designated ” snack spot” will make packing lunchboxes and grabbing to-go breakfasts a breeze!

Organize your bathroom

Keep your bathroom clutter-free by using plastic bins or boxes to store toiletries, makeup, and hair products under the sink. For small items like cotton swabs or flossers, glass jars are a great storage solution. Another idea is to use miniature ceramic dishes to display hair clips, bobby pins, and jewelry. Clearing off the countertops will make your bathroom appear bigger and make it easier to clean!

Cozy up your living room

On a chilly autumn evening, nothing beats curling up with a good book or your favorite TV show and a cup of hot cocoa. Make your living room extra cozy by adding comfy blankets, throw pillows, and warm lighting. Look for autumn colors like gold, green, copper, as well as patterns like plaid or tweed. You can find everything you need to transform your living room into a fall haven on Goodwill’s shelves!
