The 2023 ShareFest Donation Drive in partnership with the city of Oxford and Miami University took place May 11th through Tuesday, May 16th and Ohio Valley Goodwill is pleased to report was a tremendous success! This year the Goodwill team collected seven trailers of donated items which is the equivalent of 130,000 pounds of donated materials- which are diverted from area landfills. As the official Donation sponsor of the annual ShareFest Donation Drive, Ohio Valley Goodwill is proud to work in cooperation with the city of Oxford and Miami University as well as local non-profits in helping students choose to recycle responsibly during campus move-out.
The mission of ShareFest is as a service and environmental nonprofit corporation dedicated to the collection and redistribution of items donated by Miami University students and the Oxford community at the end of the academic year. Collected items are shared with local human service organizations and recycled responsibly as appropriate.
“As the Attended Donation Supervisor for Ohio Valley Goodwill, I was very pleased to see how the community worked in partnership with the ShareFest volunteers and Goodwill to help make sure that students and residents brought their unwanted items to the Chestnut Fields donation station for appropriate recycling,” said Josh Hamblin, onsite Team Supervisor. “My understanding is that this year’s drive was one of the most successful ever and Goodwill is proud to support the ShareFest Donation Drive event,” added Hamblin.
Ohio Valley Goodwill is a long-time member of the Oxford business community and has a Goodwill store which is located at 203 South Locust Street (close to the Oxford library) and offers a selection of fashion items, books and collectibles. The Goodwill store is a popular shopping location for Oxford residents as well as Miami University students. The Oxford store also features a drive-thru donation center for the convenience of local donors.
