Ohio Valley Goodwill Welcomes Governor Mike DeWine’s Southwest Regional Liaison to Corporate Headquarters

Jason Gloyd, SW Regional Liaison with Lisa Schneider, OVGI

Ohio Valley Goodwill was pleased to welcome Jason Gloyd, Southwest Regional Liaison for Governor Mike DeWine, to the organization’s corporate headquarters on Monday, March 11th. Mr. Gloyd was provided with an extensive tour of the Employment and Training center by Vice President of Rehabilitation, Steve Koons, Asst. Director of DD Services, Lisa Schneider and Marketing Director, Sharon Hannon. The Liaison was interested to learn about Goodwill’s Employment programs, Veterans services and understand more about the many options offered through its Work Adjustment Training program and through its Production facility. Grants Director, Charlie Blythe, offered an expansive overview of the organization’s transitional dormitory and related services designed to help veterans to obtain permanent housing and jobs in the larger community and Lisa Schneider provided an overview of the  array of  services created in partnership with local County Boards of Developmental Disabilities. The Liaison learned about how Goodwill partners with the larger employer community to help people find jobs and also, to perform fulfillment functions as part of its Work Adjustment Training program. Additionally, Mr. Gloyd learned about the Center for Advocacy, Recreation and Education (CARE) program and how program participants have the opportunity to be involved in more than 20 different community options weekly which reflect their personal interests and include not only social and recreational choices but also, volunteering with local organizations.

After the tour, Mr. Gloyd met with the Goodwill management team members to discuss the legislative realities impacting the organization’s ability to offer its award-winning programs. A variety of issues were discussed including AbilityOne, Employment First, impacts of funding on operational capabilities, labor force issues and the importance of maintaining the donation stream. Mr. Gloyd had a number of questions which were addressed by the team and was provided with a folder of relevant printed materials for his future reference. Ohio Valley Goodwill is very grateful to Southwest Regional Liaison for Governor DeWine, Jason Gloyd, for taking the time to tour and learn more about the organization’s important mission of service to the Greater Cincinnati community.
