More than 50 members of Ohio Valley Goodwill’s Volunteer Service Guild and honored guests enjoyed a Spring concert and luncheon event held at the organization’s corporate headquarters on Thursday, April 25th. The concert featured soloists Jeanne Phillips and Steve Horton, accompanied by pianist, Chris Bilyeu. Guild officer, Nancy Horton, coordinated the entertainment and program for the memorable event and was delighted to introduce her favorite vocalists, one of whom happens to be her son, Steve. The talented ensemble performed a series of showtunes, arias from famous operas, as well as popular selections from recent films to the delight of the assembled audience. The concert part of the program was immediately followed by a luncheon presented by the organization’s Food Services Training team members featuring chicken salad croissant sandwiches, fresh fruit and iced tea. The Guild also provided delicious cookies for dessert.

“The Guild is so pleased on the occasion of our 80th anniversary of service in support of Goodwill, to have this opportunity to enjoy wonderful music in each other’s company,” said Sue Burreson, current President. Since 1933, the volunteer group has worked hard to raise awareness of Ohio Valley Goodwill and its mission as well as funds to support the organization’s work. Annually, the Guild contributes between $15,000 and $20,000 to Goodwill in support of the individuals that the organization serves.

The Guild looks forward to its next big event, its Spring Mini-Fest which takes place May 3rd and 4th and serves as the official kick-off of National Goodwill Week.
