"Team Goodwill Sets New Record Time in Hope & Possibility Race!"

Saturday, April 30th marked the date of the 5th Hope & Possibility Race; a special feature of the annual Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon; and “Team Goodwill” celebrated the occasion by setting a new record time. Finishing the course in a remarkable time of 35 minutes, Goodwill team member Matt Graves  proudly accepted his medal as he ran across the “Swine” line. This year’s  Hope & Possibility Race not only served as the opportunity for the largest group of “Team Goodwill” members ever to participate  but also, as the official kick-off for the celebration of “National Goodwill Week.” The first week in May is traditionally the launch of the “National Goodwill Week” celebration but this year is especially meaningful as Ohio Valley Goodwill commemorates its 95th Anniversary of service in the Greater Cincinnati community. “The Hope & Possibility Race really gives Team Goodwill the opportunity to show its pride during a week that is of national significance to the organization,” said Sharon Hannon, Marketing Specialist. This year’s team included athletes enrolled in the organization’s  services as well as Goodwill staff members from its program and retail divisions and most excitingly, family members. “It was truly wonderful to have the opportunity to come together in a way that is not only healthy but so supportive of each other,” said Ann Walters, Retail Sales Manager. The Hope & Possibility Race is designed to pair athletes with and without disabilities together in a community showcase which highlights personal achievement and ability. Ohio Valley Goodwill has been a proud participant in the annual event since its beginnings. The launch of “National Goodwill Week” will include a variety of special events including an in-house celebration of the 95th Anniversary with all team members on May 5th; the upcoming Goodwill Service Guild Mini-Fest on May 6th and 7th and  the first-ever “Goodwill Spring Clean-Out Day” on Saturday, May 7th sponsored by Clear Channel Communications and WLWT-News 5. Ohio Valley Goodwill congratulates the members of the record-setting “Team Goodwill 2011” and looks forward to the celebration of its 95th Anniversary of service during “National Goodwill Week.”
