For the second year in a row, Ohio Valley Goodwill’s Bee-Tique was a highlight of the 2016 Queen Bee Half Marathon and Expo event which took place on Friday, October 7th followed by the Race on Saturday, October 8th. With all items priced at only $5, the Bee-Tique was a bee-hive of activity welcoming almost 300 guests throughout the busy day. Another popular feature was the Goodwill Queen Bee Selfie Booth which was conveniently located right next to the Goodwill Bee-Tique. Dozens of Queen Bee attendees were thrilled to capture memories of the exciting annual event as they donned fun accessories at the Goodwill Selfie booth.
The Goodwill Bee-Tique was not only abuzz with eager shoppers but also, welcomed a visit from its CARE West program. Program participants were excited to take “selfies” in the Goodwill photo booth as well as to watch the fashion show that was a feature of the Expo event.
Goodwill’s Center for Advocacy, Recreation and Education (CARE) is located in the Westwood community and is designed to provide social and recreational opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities and to promote community integration.
The morning of Race day, October 8th showcased “Team Goodwill” bright and early at the Queen Bee start line. This year’s Team Goodwill race participants included Sharon Hannon, Marketing Manager, Vanessa Cornett, Donations Supervisor along with CARA Executive Director and CILO Development Director, Debbie Moorehous.
At Mile 2, Queen Bee racers had the chance to stop by the Goodwill Selfie Booth and get that once in a lifetime pic of the 2016 Queen Bee event. Hosted by Team Goodwill members, Alleen AdoMako and Tammy Case, the two welcomed dozens of race participants at this year’s Goodwill Selfie Booth.
At this year’s Post-Race party, Team Goodwill representatives were so pleased to announce the Grand Prize Winner of this year’s deluxe Spa Pampering Basket with Queen Bee media personality, Betsy Ross. This year’s amazing winner was Ms. Maggie Hibler who came all the way from Michigan to be part of the Queen Bee Half Marathon and brought her donation for Goodwill all the way from her home state. “We were thrilled to present this year’s Spa Pampering Basket to Ms. Hibler,” said Matthew Fortner, Team Goodwill leader. “We were very impressed by her support of our Goodwill mission of service and were so glad that her name was selected as this year’s winner,” added Fortner.
