Ohio Valley Goodwill Salutes the Service of Our Nation’s Veterans on this 4th of July!

services-for-veterans-main2As we approach the most patriotic holiday of the year, the 4th of July, Ohio Valley Goodwill would like to share a little bit about what the organization does in support of our nation’s heroes; our military veterans. For the past 20 years, Ohio Valley Goodwill has been a leader in providing services to our veterans in their efforts to re-integrate into community life. The organization partners with the Continuum of Care, a coalition of more than 20 local agencies that work together to address the needs of our veterans.

Locally, Ohio Valley Goodwill is proud to participate in Cincinnati’s Homeless Veterans Reintegration Projects (HVRP) and the VA Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF). Services for veterans and their families include: career planning, job placement, and finding housing. Residential programs, counseling, food, clothing and monetary assistance are available for those who qualify.  Goodwill receives funding for these vital programs from the Department of Labor and the Veterans Administration. Generous community support is also received through the donations and store sales at the organization’s network of 15 stores in the Greater Cincinnati area.

On this most patriotic of holidays, Ohio Valley Goodwill is proud of its on-going efforts to try to help solve the national problem of homelessness that many of our veterans experience.   Most of the organization’s veteran-specific programs focus on the need to stabilize for both shorter and longer terms, the military men and women who have served our great nation. Goodwill is committed to continuing to grow these critical programs in order to meet the ever-expanding need for this type of support for our military veterans.

Last year, Ohio Valley Goodwill served more than 800 veterans through its programs and services and helped over 400 families to increase income through employment; provided almost 300 with housing assistance and helped 100 families with accessing earned benefits in the Greater Cincinnati community.

On this 4th of July, we salute the service and sacrifice of our military veterans and express our most sincere gratitude for their patriotism in support of all us. Goodwill is also very grateful to our loyal shoppers and donors for their on-going patronage which makes our mission possible.
