"Ohio Valley Goodwill Prepares to Celebrate National Goodwill Week in May!"

Each year the first full week in May is dedicated to the celebration of Goodwill Industries Week and its mission of helping people to achieve personal success. At Ohio Valley Goodwill in Cincinnati, this year’s celebration will be marked by several noteworthy events. Its volunteer Service Guild will be commemorating 80 years of support of the organization’s efforts during its Spring Mini-Fest being held on Friday, May 3rd and Saturday, May 4th at its Tri-County location at 10600 Springfield Pike in the village of Woodlawn. In addition, members of ” Team Goodwill” will be participating in the 2013 Flying Pig Marathon both in the 5K as well as a new feature called ” PigAbilities” which pairs athletes with and without disabilities. The organization has consistently sponsored a team in the Marathon for the past 7 years. And finally, in accordance with its mission of putting people to work, the organization will join with Goodwill Industries International May 6th-May 8th in promoting a virtual career fair. The virtual career fair will be hosted through Monster.com and will enable job seekers to meet with employers and apply for jobs from anywhere. The virtual fair will feature large employers like Sprint and Cintas that offer job possibilities nation-wide and can be accessed by visiting http://bit.ly/2013VCF. ” This is a great opportunity for employers as well as for workers,” said Joe Byrum, President and CEO, Ohio Valley Goodwill. ” Certainly, for job seekers, it opens up a greater avenue to find work. For employers, it offers the chance to refine recruiting strategies, expand candidate pools, and reach candidates that might not be able to attend an in-person fair.” Ohio Valley Goodwill is celebrating 97 years of service in the Greater Cincinnati community and annually serves almost 3,000 individuals with disabilities and our nation’s veterans. In 2012, Goodwill helped over 800 people to obtain community employment and provided assistance to 750 veterans.
