Wednesday, September 26th marked the first official Voter Registration and Education campaign efforts sponsored by both Ohio Valley Goodwill as well as long-time partner organization, Hamilton County Developmental Disabilities Services (HCDDS). Goodwill’s Voter Registration drive helped more than  30 new voters become eligible to vote including individuals served at both its headquarters location as well as its Westwood setting. In addition, Goodwill was a supporter and participant in the Hamilton County DDS-sponsored Election Forum 2012 held at  The Gathering Place from 6-8 pm. This educational event featured candidates for County Commission, Representatives from  Senior Services and Mental Health as well as representatives from the major political parties and Amy Searcy from the Hamilton County Board of Elections. Goodwill had disseminated information about this important voter education event to all of its program participants through  flyers enclosed in last week’s paychecks. Facilitated by the Advocacy Leadership Network and HCDDS, the popular Forum was attended by more than  50 interested voters representing advocates,  disability professionals as well as family members.  The Goodwill team had previously helped to  create a Voter Education video in partnership with HCDDS and the Ohio Department of DD which was widely disseminated  through social media channels. “Goodwill is very pleased to be  a part of the 2012 Voter Education and Registration initiative,” said Sharon Hannon, Marketing Specialist. “We feel it’s very  important that everyone have the opportunity to participate in the election process and to be fully informed,” added Hannon. Please join Goodwill in urging  everyone to vote on Tuesday, November 6th for this year’s very important Presidential election. For more information about voting, please visit
