Ohio Valley Goodwill Joins Together to Present Annual Stand Down Event For Veterans

Sunny fall skies greeted dozens of veterans at the Bellevue, Kentucky Veterans Club for the 8th Annual Northern Kentucky Stand Down on Friday, October 1st.   The annual event for homeless veterans is held annually each fall at the Bellevue Veterans Club and is planned to draw attention to the needs of homeless veterans and to provide a variety of services for them.   “We offer the Stand Down each year so that our veterans can have the opportunity to come together to receive service from a host of providers at one location,” said Mick Fusco, Goodwill’s Grants Manager.   Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries is one of the major sponsors of the annual Stand Down.   In addition to Goodwill Industries and the Bellevue Veterans Club other sponsors include, the Northern Kentucky One Stop and the Cincinnati Veterans Administration.

Throughout the day, services were available to veterans at the Stand Down which included: medical, dental, eye care, social services, employment, career opportunities, legal aid and expungement.   Members of the Veterans Administration were also available for benefits counseling.    The annual Stand Down is organized each year as a means to draw attention to the needs of homeless veterans and to provide services for them.   “We are always so grateful to our sponsoring organizations for assisting us with this event because it helps to reach so many veterans and it provides so many needed services,” said Fusco.   Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries has been offering services for homeless veterans since the early 1990’s and has been active in the Northern Kentucky community for more than ten years.

Goodwill salutes all of our nations veterans and thanks them for their dedicated service to our country.
