Tax Benefits for Donating to Goodwill

Please see an important notice regarding vehicle donation to Goodwill. (PDF, opens in a new window)

When you donate to Goodwill at an Attended Donation Center or at a store you will be provided with a receipt for your tax-deductible contribution. The receipt will contain a general description of items donated. Example, two bags of clothing and miscellaneous household items. We suggest making an itemized list if you plan to claim a tax benefit. Goodwill will also provide a Fair Market Value sheet that you can use as a guide to determine the value of the items.

The assessment of donation value for tax purposes is the responsibility of the donor. Questions regarding a tax benefit should be directed to a tax professional or the IRS website (www.irs.gov) or by calling 1-800-829-1040.

Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, incorporated in both Ohio and Kentucky.
“Shopping and donating to Ohio Valley Goodwill supports programs and services for individuals with disabilities and our nation’s veterans. We thank the community for its support of our programs and for helping with Goodwill’s commitment to the environment.”
