New ADA Promotional Video Released by Ohio Valley Goodwill in Support of Upcoming Celebration!

ADA Redraw (2)Goodwill Public Information Officer, Michael Flannery, couldn’t have found a better spokesperson to be the star of his newly produced ADA25 celebration promotional video. The newly created video features Mr. Robert Harris, a long-time advocate and recent inductee into the Ohio Civil Rights Hall of Fame. The video showcases the progress in accessibility that is the result of the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act; which was signed into law in 1990. The purpose of the segment is let people know about the upcoming ADA25 Celebration taking place in downtown Cincinnati on Monday, July 27th. Ohio Valley Goodwill is a major sponsor of the upcoming celebration event and has been a member of the planning committee for the past year.

The 25th anniversary celebration of the Americans with Disabilities Act will begin with an inaugural Disability Pride March beginning at 9:30 am at Cincinnati City Hall. The March will proceed to Fountain Square with the formal ADA 25 program beginning at 10 am. The ADA 25 celebration will include performances by the musical groups, Nativity Code and Melodic Connections, award presentations to local businesses and advocacy organizations, an exhibitor fair with dozens of human service agencies as well as an essay contest and remarks from noted legislators including Mayor John Cranley and Senator Eric Kearney.

Signed into law by President George HW Bush on July 26th 1990, the ADA was the world’s first comprehensive declaration of equality for people with disabilities.
The ADA Anniversary is a time that we can reflect positively on a law that has made a great impact on the lives of people with disabilities and our country as well as our city over the past 25 years. The theme for the ADA 25 Celebration is ” Can Do” and showcases Cincinnati’s ” Can Do” Spirit in the inclusion of people with disabilities in our community.

Please join us at City Hall on Monday, July 27th at 9:30 am for the ADA 25 inaugural Disability Pride March and at 10 am at Fountain Square for the ADA 25 ” Can Do” Celebration. For more information, follow us at Facebook Page: Cincinnati ADA 25th Anniversary and Twitter @ #CanDo.
