CARF is an independent, nonprofit accrediting body whose mission is to promote the quality, value, and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process that centers on enhancing the lives of persons served. Ohio Valley Goodwill Celebrates National Goodwill Week in May!

Each year the first full week in May is dedicated to the celebration of Goodwill Industries Week and its mission of helping people to achieve personal success. At Ohio Valley Goodwill in Cincinnati, this year’s celebration will be marked by several noteworthy events. Its volunteer Service Guild will be commemorating 80 years of support of the organization’s efforts during its Spring Mini-Fest being held on Friday, May 3rd and Saturday, May 4th at its Tri-County location at 10600 Springfield Pike in the village of Woodlawn.

Ohio Goodwills Launch New State-Wide Mobile App!

The Association of Ohio Goodwills is delighted to announce the availability of a new FREE Mobile App designed to make shopping and donating as easy as possible throughout the State of Ohio. The brand new Mobile App allows Goodwill shoppers and donors traveling throughout the state to find the closest Goodwill store, donation center or donation box to their present location. The Mobile App allows the user to obtain easy-to-follow navigation, access the specific Goodwill’s website, dial directly to the selected store or donation location, learn store hours and also, the ability to find out more about Goodwill generally.

Ohio Valley Goodwill’s Industrial Services Division is pleased to announce the launch of its new Total Facilities Management service. The new comprehensive Total Facilities Management service is designed to provide customized solutions specifically tailored to improve performance and save customers money. “Our goal is to help our customers to preserve a clean, safe, comfortable, well-maintained working facility for their staff and general public,” said Todd Schreiber, Industrial Services Marketing Manager. “With safety and quality control as cornerstones of the Ohio Valley Goodwill facilities management program, we focus on best practices to deliver a service that consolidates daily facility functions with a single point of contact,” added Schreiber.

Goodwill Industries Announces It Receives Federal Grant From Department Of Veterans Affairs

Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a new federal resources grant that will provide critical support services for homeless and low-income veterans in Cincinnati. U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that Ohio Valley Goodwill would receive the new federal grant from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Supportive Service for Veteran Families (SSVF) program. The $596,984 grant will be used to provide supportive services to low-income veteran families living in or transitioning to permanent housing. [ Read the PDF ]

Ohio Valley Goodwill To Open New Attended Donation Center In Aurora, Indiana

Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries is pleased to announce that it will be opening a new Attended Donation Center located at 1030 Green Blvd., in Aurora, Indiana on Monday, July 16, 2012. Hours of operation will be Monday through Saturday from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm and Sunday from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. Ohio Valley Goodwill was delighted to learn that its network of 16 retail stores received the 2012 “Best of Cincinnati” thrift clothing store award from CityBeat Magazine this year. Ohio Valley Goodwill In Urgent Need Of Donations Following Early Morning Fire and Vandalism 

Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries is asking the community to assist with donations for their Beechmont retail store location following an early morning fire and vandalism which occurred on Thursday, January 26, 2012. The retail store which is located at 4051 Commercial Drive was seriously damaged by a break in and fire. Much of the contents were damaged by smoke and water and the organization is asking donors to assist by offering donations of clothing and household goods. “The sale of donated items helps to provide the income that we need to make programs and services available to the hundreds of men and women with disabilities that we serve each year,” said Joe Byrum, Goodwill’s President and CEO. Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries Receives $100,000 Grant to Fund Transitional Youth Mentoring Program
Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries Rehabilitation Center, Inc. is pleased to announce that it has received a $100,000 two-year grant from The Greater Cincinnati Foundation (GCF) to fund a new program for mentoring young adults which will provide guidance, support, and instruction for transitional young adults ages 18 to 24. The new program seeks to develop ways to support young adults from the Cincinnati School System with career guidance by providing experienced and trained mentors to keep transitional young adults from falling into the ranks of the under-employed or unemployed. A premise of the program is that the presence of an understanding and supportive mentor in the lives of young adults, especially as they begin their careers in an entry-level job, can help them reduce the effect of the barriers that may be presented by their attitude and lack of experience. Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries is pleased to announce thatthe Board of Directors of the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans (NCHV) recently named John Briggs, Community Liaison of Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries, as its “Unsung Hero” in recognition of personal contributions and work with America’s homeless veterans.  John has worked at Ohio Valley Goodwill since 1987 and with Goodwill’s Homeless Veterans Reintegration program since 1993.  Each year the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans accepts nominations from its membership and selects one person they feel is most deserving of the Unsung Hero award from hundreds of submissions.  [Read the PDF]

Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries Re-Opens Loveland Retail Store
After many weeks of renovations and a complete remodel and expansion, Ohio Valley Goodwill’s Loveland retail store and drive-thru donation center was re-opened with much fanfare and an excited crowd of shoppers waiting to see the new location on Wednesday, August 4th. The newly expanded retail center is located at 330 Loveland-Madeira Road in Loveland, OH.
