"March is Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month and Cause for Celebration!"

The month of March marks the celebration of “National Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Awareness” and is an oportunity to recognize the valuable contributions of citizens with disabilities to our communities. As an agency that celebrates the personal success of men and women with disabilities every day, Ohio Valley Goodwill looks forward to the month of March each year.

The organization will be involved as a sponsor and supporter in a host of special events this month in cooperation with County Board of Developmental Disabilities partner agencies including the Hamilton, Butler, Clermont and Warren County Boards. The month will kick off with a gala event on Saturday, March 2nd featuring Goodwill’s dancing stars, Todd and Julie Schreiber, in support of the Clermont County Board of Developmental Disabilities. Ohio Valley Goodwill is a proud sponsor of the 4th annual “Dancing with our Stars” Extravaganza, which benefits the individuals that the organizations mutually serve. Goodwill opened an Eastside Vocational Services Center in 2011 in partnership with the Board, designed to provide work training opportunities for individuals who reside in both Clermont and Hamilton counties. The evening of March 3rd will mark the annual Community Recognition dinner in support of the Butler County Board of Developmental Disabilities. Through this partnership, Goodwill serves several hundred individuals through its work training, job placement, coaching as well as social and recreational programs in Butler County. Monday, March 4th will be the occasion for long-time Goodwill partner, the Hamilton County Board of Developmental Disabilities to celebrate with community members and advocates, the many contributions of individuals with disabilities as well as others in promoting inclusion and involvement in the Greater Cincinnati area. Goodwill has been recognized by HCDDS on numerous occasions for the quality of its programs and services offered to individuals with developmental disabilities. Following this series of official events, Goodwill will participate in a number of community outreach events during the remainder of the month of March in partnership with Cincinnati Public Schools and Princeton High School as well as others. Please join Goodwill and our many partners in celebrating “National Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month,” in March and the many contributions and gifts of individuals with disabilties to our community.
