Employees from Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries were recently treated to an "Appreciation Celebration" sponsored by the very same employees that they provide support to. Staff from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Equal Employment Opportunity Council planned the thank you celebration for the Goodwill janitorial employees as a part of their Cultural Diversity Sub-Committee events. Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries has announced that it will be opening a new retail store and donation center in Independence, KY. The store and donation center will be located at 6433 Taylor Mill Road in the Cherokee Center. A grand opening will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2005. As part of the National Disability Mentoring Day celebration being held on October 12, 2005, Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries is sponsoring a fashion show for the anticipated 400 students involved in the yearly event. Activities for the day will be held at the Kingsgate Marriott on the University of Cincinnati campus and will feature speakers, workshops on effective interviewing skills, college planning, and a career fair featuring approximately 30 employers. The Northern Kentucky Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program (HVRP) of Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries plans a stand down event on Friday, September 2, 2005.  The purpose of the event is to draw attention to the needs of homeless veterans and to offer a variety of services for these individuals.  Activities will take place at the Bellevue Veterans Club on Route 8 in Bellevue, Kentucky. Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries is recommending to individuals who wish to contribute to the relief efforts for those affected in the Gulf Coast region to do so by donating to the organization’s International website.  Goodwill Industries International has established an on-line donation service to allow donors to make monetary contributions towards helping persons with disabilities and other barriers to employment served by the many Goodwill organizations in the affected Gulf Coast region.(see entire press release as a Word document.)

Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries joins the nation in celebrating the 15th Anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The United States Congress passed the ADA legislation in 1990 to prohibit discrimination against people with disabilities and to guarantee them equal access to employment, public services, public accommodations, and telecommunications. Northwest High School Art Club completes mural for Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries -- The students under the direction of Andrea Stewart, art department chairperson and club sponsor, and club sponsor Gina Bush, worked hard to complete the mural. The artwork was originally conceived by architect Addison Clipson as part of Goodwill's extensive four-year renovation, which was completed in the fall of 2004. The store is located at 7855 Tanners Lane in Florence.
