Wish Granted for Goodwill CARE Participant and Family!

Goodwill Employee Also Comets Football Star Kicker!
Paul Rapking, long-time Industrial Services employee, spends his evenings and weekends in a fascinating way…playing for The Comets, a semi-professional football team in the Mid-Continental Football League. As a kicker for the team, Rapking uses a traditional straight-leg style of kicking which merited the attention of a reporter from the NorthWest Community Press in a recent article about the team.
The mission statement of The Comets says that their interest is in facilitating quality football and community outreach. Rapking has played football for nearly three decades, according to the article and like his teammates has a “love and passion for the game.” The team’s home-opener is August 4th at Kings High School against the Detroit Seminoles.
Congratulations to Goodwill’s Star Kicker, Paul Rapking!
Goodwill Staff Celebrate 2007 CARF Results!
On Thursday, June 28th, Ohio Valley Goodwill staff members took a few
minutes to celebrate the results of the organization's 2007 CARF survey
results. For the second time, (both in 2004 and now in 2007), the
surveyors made no recommendations for improvement after their intensive
3 day observation of Goodwill's programs and services. "We wanted the
opportunity to say thank you to all the staff for a job well done," said
Joe Byrum, President/CEO.
Ohio Valley Goodwill is proud of its 91 year history of service to the
Greater Cincinnati community and its continued dedication to program
excellence.
Ohio Valley Goodwill CEO Receives 30 Year Pin!
Goodwill President and CEO Joe Byrum (at right in the photo) was pleasantly surprised at the
June meeting of the organization's board of directors, by being
presented with his 30 year pin for his years of service. Board chairman
Jim Armour (at left in the photo) remarked as he gave Joe his pin that Joe had provided and
continues to demonstrate outstanding leadership of Ohio Valley Goodwill.

the organization's future.
2007 Goodwill/MVD Golf Outing Scores Big!
Beautiful weather, a challenging golf course, a host of local celebrities, great food and enthusiastic players were all of the ingredients needed to make Ohio Valley Goodwill’s 7th annual golf outing a huge success. Held once again at the award-winning Shaker Run Golf Club, this year’s event was deemed a huge success by participants and players alike. The gourmet pasta lunch provided by new sponsor, Vincenzo’s Italian Restaurant, was deemed delicious by the crowd and the ever popular rib and chicken dinner menu provided by RSVP Catering, was enjoyed by all.
Event coordination flowed smoothly this year thanks to the hard work of volunteers from both Goodwill and title sponsor, MVD Communications. Celebrity chairperson Joe Walter commented at the end of the day, that he thought it was a fantastic outing and is already looking forward to next year’s event.

Ohio Valley Goodwill Receives 2007 CARF Accreditation!
Ohio Valley Goodwill is excited to announce that it has received its 11th consecutive three-year accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (known as CARF). Particularly noteworthy is that the organization received 11 exemplary commendations and no recommendations for improvement. CARF surveyors noted that the organization was not only in conformance with all applicable standards but also “exceeded the standards in a majority of cases.” The CARF surveyors made no recommendations; which is an extraordinary accomplishment, as only 3% of CARF surveys result in no recommendations. This is the second time that Ohio Valley Goodwill’ survey results have reflected this remarkable level of achievement.
“We are extremely proud of the 2007 CARF accreditation results,” said Joseph Byrum, President and CEO. “The survey outcomes not only reflect the quality of our programs but also the dedication of our truly committed staff.”
