Assistance Services
Employment Assistance Services provides assistance to job-seekers and to local businesses. Our Employment Consultants keep current on labor market information and hiring trends. This information is used in working with individuals in a job search.
Employment Consultants also provide assistance and training in resume development and job-seeking skills training. This includes instruction on how to conduct a job search, how to approach employers regarding accommodations, and how to respond to those "hard to answer questions." Assistance with interview attire and transportation to interviews is also available.
Assistance in contacting employers and individualized job searches, job modifications and job re-structuring are also services that Employment Consultants provide. All services provided are discussed and agreed upon between the individual and the Employment Consultant.
Employment Assistance Services also has a Retention Specialist that provides help with any post-employment needs. These may include things such as housing, transportation, and day care. The Retention Specialist works with individuals and employers to ensure job retention.
Employment Assistance Services staff also offer a Job Club to job seekers. An individual works with staff or independently to locate openings and contact employers. Staff is there to provide support as needed.
A new service that Employment Assistance Services has allows individuals who are seeking employment to work through Goodwill in a temporary capacity. This allows job seekers to get recent job experience and earn extra money while involved in a job search.
According to the Rehabilitation Services Commission's statistics, Goodwill placed 86% of individuals served in the first quarter. Goodwill has the highest number of hours per week by individuals when compared to other agencies.
Individuals interested in our services are typically referred to us by the following agencies: Ohio Rehabilitation Services Commission, Bureau of Worker's Compensation, and the Hamilton County Board of MR/DD.
