Board Sponsored Services
Supported Work Crews:
Supported Work Crews participation can occur as part of the individual's
Work Adjustment Services or independent of facility based services. Participants
in this service have the opportunity to work daily at local business establishments
(including Goodwill's production facility) in the Greater Cincinnati area
as part of a supervised and supported work crew, with crews ranging from
4 to 25 individuals. If the individual is a participant in Work Adjustment
Services, transportation to and from the work sites is provided by Goodwill.
Supported work crews were designed for individuals who may require job
supports on a daily or regularly scheduled basis, who may need to build
their confidence in their ability to work in the community, or who may
wish to explore a variety of different vocational opportunities in the
community.
All work crews offer the following:
-
On site support staff who assist individuals in learning job requirements,
as well as maintaining their focus on their overall success and growth
in a community setting. Support staff are present at each work crew site,
and remain with the crews for the entire day's work.
-
Each individual not only has the full-time assistance of support staff
at the work site, but also works with a program manager who visits the
work site on a regular basis to observe, interact, and assess the individual's
progress, and ensures that the person's stated preferences and requirements
are being met.
-
All participants of work crews are paid for the work they perform on the
job. Goodwill staff are responsible for tracking and recording each individual's
productivity and anticipated earnings on a daily basis.
-
Work crew participation provides unique opportunities for the individual
to learn about the demands and challenges of competitive employment while
receiving support, encouragement and guidance from dedicated staff.
Goodwill has been operating work crews in the greater Cincinnati area for
over fifteen years, and is proud of the reputation it has earned with the
business community as a service which not only provides opportunity for
individuals, but also quality work services to meet the needs of business.
These strong relationships with area businesses have provided community
employers with the opportunity to see firsthand the strengths and assets
that our work crew participants can bring to their companies. The majority
of individuals involved with our Work Adjustment services are regularly
offered the opportunities these work crews represent.
